Join Brecks Vineyard and Jim Gore from the Global Wine Academy for the first in a series of tastings designed to unpick the world of wine. This session provides a thorough, accessible introduction to grape growing and winemaking, connecting what happens in the vineyard and cellar with the flavours, aromas and textures in your glass.
Weather permitting, we will also have a short winter vineyard walk to explore how vines grow and grapes develop, and how the grower’s decisions influence the harvest. Back inside, six carefully chosen wines will bring the theory to life. Two Pinot Noirs from different regions will introduce Old World and New World approaches, exploring how climate and winemaking shape the same grape variety. Rosés from the UK and Provence will reveal how production choices influence colour, flavour and texture, while contrasting unoaked and oaked Chardonnays will demonstrate what oak contributes to white wine. Along the way, we will explore how other winemaking techniques can add texture and change a wine’s character.
Packed with information, practical comparisons and opportunities to ask questions, this is an enjoyable way to build your confidence, deepen your understanding and take your wine education a stage further, all while tasting some fantastic wines.
The session will then naturally lead on to ‘Christmas at Brecks’ with live music, food and drinks from 6.30pm.
From Vineyard to Glass | Saturday 12 December | 4–6pm | £75
